What an honor & what a 12-month run of 8 events! I cannot thank our incredibly willing & supportive families enough in making all of this fun & empowering happen for our fantastic kiddos! A very special thanks go out to Team Mom Meagan & hubby Shane for initiating, designing, creating, & delivering our tremendous team shirt for all of us. I’d also like to thank the big-hearted & tireless SOHI family of Paula, Nip, Dan, Brandon, & everyone else, all of the SOHI volunteers, & the generous venues. Lastly, I’d like to thank the one & the only who’d gifted me with the spark back in 2019… Principal Bonilla!

We are so thankful to/for Emerald of Unified Champions Schools for giving us our 3rd season of Flag Football (‘20 with Ilima, ‘23, & ‘24)! They & Special Olympics Hawaii rolled out the red carpet as always sparing no detail. There were many priceless moments with good vibrations flowing from everyone. Biggest of thanks also go out to all of the SOHI volunteers, our fellow schools, our players, & our families for all of their willingness, sacrifice, & support!

Mililani Trojans Bocce Champions Quran & Isaiah
So, so, so proud of Quran & Isaiah for being such hard workers, team players, & great representatives. Quran’s practice schedule was every other day until he asked to practice on an off day, which made it daily. Isaiah practiced every weekend. They came together this past Saturday & braved an initial narrow loss, a comeback in the losers bracket to the championship game, falling behind in the championship game 4-0, & lastly rattling off 10 unanswered points to earn the championship! Many thanks go out to SOHawaii’s Nikki, Nip, Dan, all of the volunteers (including our outstanding officials Kay & Mike!), the rest of SOHawaii, law enforcement, First Hawaiian Bank, and Ms. Ward & Ms. Castro for an incredible event! Many thanks also go out to our families Auntie Latosha, Auntie Nichole, Auntie Jessica, & Mr. Keim! We’re very excited for 2022 <3

Team Tiaree & Isaiah… 3rd Place Unified (1-2)

*Team DJ/Kristian… 1st Place [11-0 & 6-2 (Final was a lot closer than the score indicates!)]
*Team Tiaree/Isaiah… 1st Place [10-4 & 10-9 OT (they were down early by a nearly insurmountable 5 points in the Final to slowly claw their way back to tie in Regulation & then take it in OT!)]
What an all-time day last week Saturday was! Before the event, there wasn’t any talk of winning but what unfolded blew us away! Both teams had super team work with DJ & Kristian smiling all throughout and Tiaree & Isaiah high fiving all throughout. Both Finals were nerve-racking with both teams never giving up!
We’d like to send a big thank you to Principal Bonilla for making us aware of this very special opportunity! Without Boss, this experience wouldn’t have happened. Big thank yous also go out to Special Olympics Hawaii’s Mollie (see below), Dan for his outstanding training, Blythe for all of her coordinating, & Ruben of his Certified Hawaiian for our fantastic custom shirts sponsored by SOHI (thank you very much, Special Olympics Hawaii!)! We’d like to especially thank Mollie for all of her welcoming, legwork, reliability, & aloha …even driving all the way out to Ewa Beach from town twice to take great care of us. Lastly, we cannot thank our families enough for all of their willingness, flexibility, effort, & aloha in making this possible!
